About the Business
Simply put, an air to water heat pump works on the same principle as any refrigerator. The unit, which is mounted on an external wall, draws air from the atmosphere and converts the latent heat contained within that air to provide heat for both radiators and hot water.
The Worcester Bosch Air To Water Heat Pump (pictured left), when installed and functioning optimally, has a Coefficient of Performance of 4. Meaning that for every 1kW of electricity used to power the pump, 4kW of heat energy are created.
Due to its low operating costs, and its ability to function at temperatures as low as –20 degrees Celsius, this type of technology is becoming increasingly popular.
Ideal for those with limited available space, an unvented water cylinder is usually mounted inside an airing cupboard and eliminates the need for a cold water header tank. Thus it makes it the ideal choice for use in situations where no loft space is available. Such as, when installing a central heating system in an apartment.
